The Arc has a long history of providing residential services in Bergen and Passaic communities having started the first group home in New Jersey in 1971 (Passaic County) and the first in Bergen County in 1981.

The Arc is committed to being good neighbors and providing individuals with disabilities the support they need to live successfully in the community in the type of setting they need and desire.

The Arc’s Community Residential Services department supports approximately 200 individuals in a variety of living arrangements.

Group Homes and Supervised Apartments

Group homes and Supervised Apartments offer 24-hour staff support, training in daily living skills, informal counseling, social opportunities, and community integration experiences.

Supported Living Program (TAP)

TAP provides specially tailored programs to meet the unique needs of an individual and his/her family. This option includes, but is not limited to, supporting individuals in the family home or in their own home or apartment. Schedules are designed to provide the level of staffing and assistance needed for successful community living. Opportunities for social and recreational programming, skill training and assistance with daily living skills are also available.

Independent Living Program

In our Independent Living Program individuals live in their own homes or apartments with weekly case management and skill training support.
